Originally from Southern Louisiana, Glenda earned her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Houston in 1981. She later completed a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus on Reading Education, at Prairie View A&M University.
With over 40 years of experience working with children, Glenda retired after 20 years as a teacher. Throughout her career, she worked primarily with elementary school students and developed a passion for reading education. Early on, she noticed many students struggled with reading, often not reading at grade level, which inspired her to specialize in this area.
To address the growing need for reading support, Glenda founded Smart Success Tutoring, LLC, where she provides private tutoring in reading and writing. One of her most memorable experiences as a teacher was witnessing a student, who couldn't read at the beginning of the year, become one of the top readers by the end. The student's progress was a source of pride for both the child and their parents.
